Sarah Rhodes

  General Notes:

Buried at Utley Cemetry, Keighley. Gravestone shows she was the daughter of Bethel Rhodes, a prominent Keighley business man. Dennis Rhodes reports 4/23/2004. "I recently visited Utley Cemetry, Keighley to find many graves vandalised, Bethel Rhodes being one of them. Apparently, the police caught three Asian youths but could not prosecute as they were under age. Bethel's headstone has been completely pushed over, breaking it into two pieces, damaging some of the inscriptions. However, you can still make out the inscription of Sarah Rhodes, wife of Eli Oscar Bancroft, died 19th April, 1937. "

Moved from Newcastle due to bronchial problems. Not sure of cause of death. She retained a lot of fluids.

Sarah married Eli Oscar Bancroft, son of Jabez Bancroft and Deborah Waddington, on 10 Aug 1897 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England. (Eli Oscar Bancroft was born on 21 Apr 1869 in Hawkcliffe Cottage -Steeten, Keighley, Yorks, England,¹²⁰ died on 3 Nov 1958 in Roose Hospital, Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire, England and was buried in Nov 1958 in Skipton, Yorkshire, England.) The cause of his death was Not sure.
