Went camping with family at Silverdale many times in 1945-50 time. Dad bought a car in 1947 and we went for a holiday to Aylsbury for a caravan (or was it in a tent) holiday in 1948.
Mumps and chickenpox when young.
• Schooling, 1943-1950, Ocean Road, Infant and Junior. Attended Ocean Rd Infant and Junior school on Walney. Started school at 4. At the age of 9 was moved up a class as there were too many kids in his class, so he was working with kids a year older. In the one exam he finished 20th and Brian Day who finished 26th passed for the grammar school. • Schooling, 1950-1958, Barrow Grammar School. Went to the Barrow Boys Grammar school from 1950-58. Deputy Head boy, prefect for two years, captain of school soccer team for two years. Organized tour of Germany for school soccer team in Ubach Palenberg, Wessling, Bonn, Mannheim and Speyer. Stephen married Jacqueline Mary Travis, daughter of Harold George Travis and Joyce Ingerthorp Allwood, on 28 Mar 1967 in St. Johns, Hartford Cheshire. (Jacqueline Mary Travis was born on 28 Apr 1945 in Pontefract, , Yorkshire, England.) |
