General Notes:
Farmer all his life. 1841 Census shows him living at a farm at Wins Delf, Ingrow which is a village on the outskirts of Keighley with a wife and 8 children. 1851 census at same place with wife and 4 sons. 1861 census names farm at Unwins Delph farming 13 acres with wife 2 sons, a daughter in law and a grandchild. a farm of 13 acres in those days would have been barely enough to support a family, so it must have been quite likely that he had some other occupation, which is not listed. 1871 census shows he and Hannah living alone in a house at Bocking and his occupation is shown as "small income from mortgage". Both James and Hannah were buried at Haworth church and a gravestone is still there which also shows other members of his family in the same grave.
James married Hannah Butterfield on 31 Jan 1815 in Bingley, Yorkshire, England. (Hannah Butterfield was born in 1793 in Addingham and died on 5 Dec 1871 in Haworth, Yorkshire, England.)
