Elizabeth Smithson

  Research Notes:

10/17/03. There is condradictory information on year of birth. From hand written notes taken from Northallerton archives on 1851 census, we show Christopher 60, Elizabeth 49 b Copt Hewick, Harriet 4 b NAll, Margaret 27 b NAll, Mary Ann 16 B NAll.
However, another note says she died 15 June 1863 aged 65, which would put birth in 1798.
Ripon parish registers give:
26 July 1798 Smithson Elizabeth d of William Copt Hewick (Sent by Shirley from "B.Oloughlin" <b.oloughlin@btinternet.com>).
1861 Census shows age 60 born Hewick, Ripon.
Took photograph of place where she was buried but it is unmarked.
11/9/08 1851 census ancestry.com verifies age as 49 b Copt Hewick
8/25/09 Age on 1841 census is 40 but 41 census rounds ages.

• 1861 Census Northallerton Pick Christopher: Elizabeth Pick wife aged 60 born Henwick, Ripon, 7 Apr 1861, Main Street, Northallerton. ¹⁷⁶

Elizabeth married Christopher Pick, son of John Pick and Elizabeth Batty, on 17 May 1823 in Northallerton, Yorks, England. (Christopher Pick was born on 1 Sep 1789 in Thirsk, Yorkshire, England, christened on 24 Nov 1790 in Thirsk, Yorkshire, England, died on 24 Nov 1882 and was buried in Northallerton, Yorks, England.)
